Couple who lied jailed. A driver who was caught travelling at 41mph in a 30mph zone was jailed after lying to police in an attempt to escape punishment. Te driver faced a £60 fine and three points on her licence, but told police an elaborate web of lies in an attempt to escape the fine and keep her licence clean. The couple were jailed for two months at Birmingham Crown Court, after pleading guilty to perverting the course of justice. Sentencing the pair to prison, Judge Melbourne Inman, QC, also found Ali guilty of speeding. She was fined £60 and had three points placed on her licence. West Midlands Police said they hoped that the case would serve as a lesson to those who tried to escape justice. “If they had put their hands up for what was a minor offence, they wouldn't be in prison now,” a spokesman said. |
